Currently, the goal to develop a commercial licensed Low Power AM (LPAM) radio service, has hit a roadblock. While the FCC has indicated they are interested and open to the concept, they have not acted on the updated Petition that was filed with minor modifications from the initial Petition. The FCC has requested that additional changes be made to certain technical aspects of the Petition before they will seriously consider the proposal.

William C. Walker of Kansas City, MO and Don Schellhardt of Richmond, VA, the two leading proponents of commercial licensed LPAM and the original crafters of the Petition (RM-11287) before the FCC have indicated they will continue to work toward the development of the proposed licensed LPAM service in the upcoming year. More details will be made public after they become available.
